Facelift Surgery

Facial aesthetics, facelift, facial fillers, and sagging facial treatments can provide detailed information about how these procedures work.

Facelift surgery, also known as rhytidectomy, involves removing loose or sagging skin from the face and providing a more youthful appearance. The procedure does not stop aging, but it rejuvenates the facial appearance. The aging process continues, but the visible signs can be minimized. Facial surgical procedures aimed at eliminating signs of aging, such as sagging skin, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity, make up the concept of facelift aesthetics. The goal of facelift surgery is for the patient to achieve a natural, youthful appearance.

Reasons for Face Lift
Facelift esthetics consists of cutting the skin that has become abundant as a result of aging, pulling it back-up from the sides of the face, stretching it, and sewing the excess parts again. As with any surgery, facelift has very important tips. One of the most important issues is the protection of the facial nerve (facial nerve) that moves the facial mimic muscles. This nerve divides into very thin branches in both cheek areas and lies under the skin.
Points to Consider Before Face Lift Surgery
You should be in good general health and be psychologically ready for the operation and have realistic expectations about the results of the surgery. During the patient’s examination, information about the patient’s alcohol, smoking and harmful substance habits, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and liver diseases are evaluated by the plastic surgeon. The planning of the surgery is made by considering the severity of the deformation in the face and neck of the patient, skin texture, bone structure, the amount and extent of fat, and the degree of sagging. With this surgery, eyelid aesthetics can also be performed. In addition, procedures such as fat injections and forehead stretching can be added to this surgery. Blood thinners such as aspirin, ginkobiloba, vitamin E should be discontinued at least one week before.
How Old Is Face Lift Surgery Suitable For?
On average 40 years and above; Although it is under the age of 40, it is a suitable operation for people with sagging, fat and folds on the neck, face and lips.
Anesthesia Method and Duration Used in Facial Esthetics
Operations are performed in a hospital environment under general anesthesia. The operation time is between 2-4 hours. At the end of the operation, two drains are placed in the treated area. These drains are removed after 24-36 hours. The patient comes out of the surgery with a facelift corset and is asked to wear this corset for a week.
Recovery Process After Facial Esthetics
Sutures are removed on the sixth postoperative day, and the existing edema begins to disappear. With a special massage method, new skin texture is started to be dynamic. Pain is not uncomfortable and can be easily controlled with pain medications. Swelling and bruises decrease rapidly within the first few days and disappear within 2 weeks. It takes about 4-6 months for the skin to sit properly on the face. While some operations require repeat surgery after 7 to 15 years, many patients do not need a second esthetic.
Points to Consider After Facial Esthetics Surgery

  • The person must protect his / her face from physical factors. During the post-operative recovery phase, the stretched face should not be exposed to excessive movement.

  • Pain medication should be used regularly when necessary.

  • Do not choose clothes that can be worn by direct contact with your face.

  • It is necessary not to smoke for 1 month after the operation. Since smoking clogs the capillaries in the body, the capillary vessels in the face affect the blood circulation after surgery and slows the healing process.
